Laying down old blankets, moving mats or cardboard along the main walkways in both properties stops mud and water being tracked through the house all day. A good removalist will already carry floor protection as standard, but it's worth confirming this before the day if you're moving into a freshly renovated or carpeted home.
Keeping Your Belongings Dry In Transit
Cardboard boxes hold up fine in light drizzle, but sustained rain is a different story. Mattresses, upholstered furniture and anything electronic should always travel wrapped or covered, and it's worth double checking with your removalist that plastic covers and tie-downs are part of the job rather than an afterthought.
